Shortcuts
OpenDNS Shortcuts make navigating online to company or school services easier. Set up shortcuts and help everyone on your network use a short word to get to any online location.

Create a shortcut from your account
You can create and manage all your shortcuts in one place, with your free account.

Enter a shortcut, enter a website, and you're done.
Create a shortcut from OpenDNS Guide
On OpenDNS Guide, you can create a shortcut right in place, speeding you to your destination both for that visit and future use. Shortcuts you create on the Guide page can be saved and edited once you create a free account, making shortcuts available anywhere on the Internet.

Create a shortcut from another website
With the OpenDNS bookmarklet, you can create shortcuts anywhere on the Internet straight from your browser. Drag this link (OpenDNS Shortcut) to your browser menu bar, and click it anytime you come across a new site you want to shortcut.

Create an advanced shortcut
Anything that can be expressed as a URL can be a shortcut. Parameters make shortcuts even more useful.
What's a parameter?
A parameter is part of a URL which makes the page change.
For example, http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=yhoo has yhoo as a parameter.
Change yhoo to msft and you get a different page, with Microsoft's stock price instead of Yahoo's. Neat!
How do I create a shortcut that takes parameters?
When creating a shortcut, enter %s in the website field as the parameter placeholder, like this:
http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=%s
How do I use these shortcuts?
It's simple. Type your shortcut, followed by a space, followed by a parameter.
In your address bar: s msft
Can I launch an application?
Yep! If you want to launch an AOL IM conversation, you can do something like this:
Shortcut: IM
Website: aim:goim?screenname=%s&message=Hi.+Are+you+there?
In your address bar: IM opendns
Limits
Only alphanumeric characters, from the ASCII character set. No spaces are allowed in the shortcut name.
Put a shortcut link in your website
Make it even easier for your users to visit your site. Create a shortcut link for your site, with your preferred shortcut name, and put it as a link straight on your website. Simply put in the shortcut and the website you want in the form below, and you can generate the HTML on the fly for use on your site.
Set up shortcuts for your network
Shortcuts can be set up for network, so all your users benefit from the shortcuts you establish. For instance, set up "help" to go straight to your helpdesk.
Individuals can override the network shortcuts with personal shortcuts, so your assistance doesn't become an impediment to your users.
