PhishTank marks the start of 2007 with best phish-fighting on record
Feb 2, 2007 — SAN FRANCISCO -- OpenDNS (www.opendns.com), the service that makes the Internet faster, safer and smarter for you and everyone using your network, today announced January 2007 statistics for PhishTank (www.phishtank.com), the free, community Web site where anyone can submit, verify, track and share phishing data. During the month of January, the PhishTank community voted more than 146,000 times on more than 30,000 suspected phishes, both numbers representing nearly a 50 percent rise over the preceding month.
Highlights from the January 2007 PhishTank statistics include:
Total number of votes by the PhishTank community: 146,507
Total number of unique, suspected phishing scams reported: 30,509
Country hosting the most phishing sites: United States
Percentage of phishing sites hosted in United States: 20
Median time it took for the PhishTank community to verify phishes: 68 hours, 52 minutes
